Water Resources Competitive Grants Program

Monday, May 23, 2016

The Water Resources Competitive Grants Program has issued the Fiscal Year 2016 Request for Proposals.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Institute for Water Resources (IWR), in cooperation with the National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR) requests proposals for grants to support applied investigations in select topic areas related to water resources issues in the United States.

The purpose of this grant is to stimulate investigation and analysis that develops and effectively communicates reasoned and practical alternatives to select challenges in National water resources policy. Through well-communicated issue backgrounds and discussions of alternatives, decision makers can be better informed of the existence and extent of challenges facing the Nation's water resources as well as alternative to deal with these challenges.

Grant proposals may request up to $200,000 in federal funds, but proposals for lesser amounts are encouraged. Matching funds are not required for these awards. Proposals must be submitted by email to the NIWR-designated Water Resources Research Institute or Center, which for Vermont researchers is the Vermont Water Resources and Lake Studies Center. The government's obligation under this program is contingent upon the availability of funds.

All proposals must be submitted in PDF format by email to Elissa Schuett by August 26 at 5:00pm to be reviewed, approved and submitted to IWR by September 1.
